Kevin C. Reed Memorial Scholarship Program

Requirements and Application

For an applicant to be considered, they must meet the following requirements:

1) Be a high school senior who currently participates in one of the football programs that is served by the East Bay Football Officials Association (EBFOA).

2) Achieve at least a cumulative 3.0 grade point average throughout all years of high school. This figure is on the 4-point scale, and for scoring purposes it will be capped at 4.0.

3) Have plans to attend any accredited two-year or four-year institution in the fall.

4) Not be a family member of any EBFOA member.

Each applicant must submit the following documents for their application to be complete. Please note that an incomplete application will result in reduced scores for the applicant.

1) An unofficial transcript showing all courses attempted in grades 9-12.

2) Two letters of recommendation written by teachers, coaches, administrators, or others who have contributed to the student’s academic and athletic development. Please note that the EBFOA will not be providing a uniform questionnaire to be filled out. We would like to give discretion to those who are writing about applicants.

3) A well written essay that addresses the following prompt:

In an organized essay, describe an athletic experience that you thought to be beneficial to your personal development as a student. The purpose of this prompt is to get you to describe how your participation in high school football has helped you to grow as a student and a person. Essays should be double-spaced, and 1-2 pages in length.
